Red wine is more than just a good drop. It’s fashion’s fave haute hue – it’s the new black!  The Spring/Summer 2014 runways are awash with winey-goodness, and your new season wardrobe can be too. Yeah, you know how to drink it. But do you know who to wear it?

Kate and Pippa’s fave designer, Alice Temperley got stuck into the wine this week in London. She used it perfectly in a monochromatic-fashion, working it back with intense shades of red and pink. Gorgeous. Expect to see Pippa in it, (no doubt with nude hose and a dodgy fascinator) sometime soon.

Victoria Beckham took a more modern approach using it with a basic palette of black, white, pink and lipstick red. Flashes of floaty white pleating and solid asymmetrical hems gave it a fresh but sexy feel. Note the very simple and minimalist approach to accessorising, a vital factor in pulling off Red Wine.

It’s a colour many women consider difficult to wear, plus Maroon is a dirty word, so let’s now use it. If wearing Red Wine head-to-toe isn’t for you, try experimenting with the odd accessory, or simply add a dash to your ensemble.  I am hunting down a great Red Wine bag as we speak, but also adore the Marni earrings below, a good matte lip or a chic little pump. Such a luxe look and no-brainer update.

Cheers MMs!
